Guinness is to mark its 250th anniversary with its first global advertising effort, it has emerged.

In the advert, two friends are depicted making a toast to founder Arthur Guinness in a pub.

People then pick up the toast from outside the bar before it travels across the world to destinations such as Africa and Chile.

The ad will air as part of the build up to the Arthur's Day celebrations that will take place in September.

On September 24th events will be taking place across the globe, with music acts including The Undertones, Soul II Soul and The Enemy set to perform in Dublin.

Musicians will be playing at the Guinness Storehouse as well as at bars and pubs across the city.

There will be chances to win tickets to the event, while the concert will be streamed live through pub TV to thousands of pubs across the UK as people raise their glasses to Arthur Guinness.
