Marketers 'missing out on social media'

Marketers are not embracing social media as just three per cent are exploring channels like blogging and microblogging with tools such as Twitter, research has revealed.
Econsultancy has reported on an Emailvision survey of 102 companies that was carried out at the Online Marketing Show.
The latter has now warned that marketers are missing out by not taking advantage of social media, according to Econsultancy.
Nick Gold, UK managing director at Emailvision, said that it is understandable that firms are unsure as to whether to invest in emerging channels, the digital marketing community firm reported.
"Getting the basics right with existing channels can free up time and money, offering a solution to these brands. This time and money can be used to integrate social media into established approaches," Mr Gold commented.
A survey from Hill & Knowlton's Future of Commerce report recently showed that 27 per cent of Generation Y are influenced by an online community or blog.
