Facebook reaches 300m users

Facebook has announced it is now used by 300 million people worldwide - although claims its work is far from done.
In his blog, creator Mark Zuckerberg said the social networking site needs to connect more people and should enlist innovative ways of achieving this.
"We face a lot of fun and important challenges that require rethinking the current systems for enabling information flow across the web," he revealed.
Facebook has also started to make a profit from its services, Zuckerberg said, which has come much sooner than it predicted.
He claimed that this puts Facebook in a favourable position for the future as it offers "a strong independent service for the long term".
This follows comments from Don Davis, editor of Internet Retailer, who said that it is difficult for social networking sites to generate revenue as users are not keen on any subtle changes made to them.
