Nielsen: Video streams are on the up
Category: Data | 18th Sep 2009
The use of video streams is increasing among top online brands, a study has discovered.
Conducted by Nielsen Online, the poll found that the number of unique viewers and the amount of streams they watch are up year-on-year.
It noted a 41 per cent rise in total streams, with 11,363,819 seen in the month of August alone.
On a per viewer basis, Nielsen found that 81.7 streams were seen on average throughout August, marking a 19.6 per cent rise over the course of a year.
Rachel Hawkes, account director at media consultancy Elemental, recently said that companies are often not making the most of video on their websites and highlighted the potential benefits of doing so.
"It's so easy for anybody to create videos from their mobile phone, web cams or digital camera, but a website is really the shop window of a business," she commented.
