Lego re-releases 1980s ad
Category: Creative work | 31st Oct 2008
To celebrate Lego's 50th anniversary the toy-brand is bringing back its popular animated 1980s Kipper advertisement.
The television marketing campaign was first aired in 1981 and aimed to show the variety of things that can be made from Lego bricks, by using a fight between a mouse, which when threatened by a cat, turns into a dog.
The ads will run in UK cinemas for the next four weeks, while the first showing will coincide with the release of the latest instalment of the James Bond franchise, Quantum of Solace.
Marko Ilinic, managing director of Lego UK, explained the company's reasons behind the re-release.
He told mad.co.uk: "With a resurgence in retro toys coming in the UK toy market, we wanted to re-release the ad to a joint kids and adult audience in the lead up to Christmas."
The advertisement was voted one of the 100 greatest adverts ever by viewers of Channel Four.
