Many marketers are now using social media channels to advertise their business, according to new research.
According to Michael Stelzner's How Marketers Are Using Social Media to Grow Their Businesses report, 88 per cent of advertisers surveyed are using social media for the aforementioned purpose.
A total of 64 per cent of those surveyed said they were using social media for five hours or more every week, while 39 per cent are doing so for ten or more hours each week.
However, 72 per cent of marketers questioned have been using social media for a few months or less, signifying that many are new to the form.
"Social media marketing is an engagement with online communities to generate exposure, opportunity and sales," Mr Stelzner commented.
According to eBay's new Online Business Index, 64 per cent of online businesses are confident about the future, with more than three-quarters planning to expand their businesses this year.
