UK internet advertising set for growth
Category: Sector focus | 16th Jun 2009
UK internet advertising will grow to make up 36 per cent of all advertising by 2013, according to research.
This is according to figures from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which also predicted that the UK internet access market will expand 40 per cent over the next five years.
The same market will increase at a compound annual growth rate of seven per cent from 2009 to 2013, in statistics that could excite digital marketers.
"National internet access is no longer purely a competitive advantage for an individual country but will be key to leading in the global economy as the world emerges from recession," commented Phil Stokes, head of entertainment and media at PwC.
He added that his organisation is expecting a rebound in 2010, with internet advertising, TV subscriptions and license fees will be larger in 2013 than in 2008.
Jonathan Loynes, chief European economist at Capital Economics, recently revealed that his organisation believes the economy will expand at a modest growth rate in the second half of this year.
